James Connally Chapter Hosts Veterans Day Ceremony

Category: Silver Wings — seidmh @ 8:39 pm

The James Connally Chapter at Baylor University hosted a Veterans Day ceremony at Pat Neff Hall. The ceremony featured the laying of a memorial wreath, retiring of colors, singing of the National Anthem, and a moment of silence. The AFROTC also maintained a 24 hour vigil at the flagpole.

Jack and Martha Whetsel were honored as special guests at the ceremony. The Whetsels recently donated the lead gift for the new Lt. Jack Whetsel Jr. Basketball Practice Facility that is named in honor of their son. After his freshman year at Baylor, Lt. Whetsel enlisted in the military and planned to one day finish his degree at Baylor. Tragically, the 22-year-old Whetsel was killed in Vietnam.
